Anca Lupeș is one of Romania's most experienced music industry professionals, with a career spanning press, radio, TV, concert promotion, record companies, music publishing, and artist management. In 2009, she became the first Romanian music business professional to earn a Master's degree in Music Business from Berklee College of Music in Boston — a milestone that set the foundation for her role as the pioneer of music business education in Romania.
In 2016, she founded Mastering the Music Business (MMB), the first and biggest international music business conference and showcase festival in Romania, dedicated to independent artists and industry professionals alike. Over its past editions, MMB has featured 1000+ speakers and industry experts, including global names such as the CEO of Sziget festival and the co-founder of The Orchard as well as world renowned artists such as Katie Melua (UK), Steve Vai and Jordan Rudess (USA). The MMB Showcase has hosted 300+ artists from Romania and across Europe, generating success stories ranging from cross-border artist collaborations to Romanian acts being booked at major European festivals. In 2025, MMB celebrated its 10th anniversary edition, confirming its position as a pivotal platform for the independent music sector in Eastern Europe.
Anca currently serves as President of RAW Music — the NGO that organizes MMB and functions as Romania's official music export office — facilitating connections between Romanian artists and Western and Central/Eastern European markets, and opening doors to major European showcase festivals including Eurosonic, Reeperbahn, Glastonbury, Sziget, and Exit. As a result of this export work, RAW Music became a member of the European Music Exporters Exchange (EMEE) in 2023 and is now Romania’s official Export Office.
